About Shalaya

Shalaya is a yoga platform connecting yogis with yoga teachers, studios, and retreat organizers in Singapore. We bring everything into one curated space so you can find yoga experiences that truly fit you.

Shalaya offers two types of yoga experiences today: Classes and Masterclasses.

We start with a core offer in Singapore, helping you discover teachers, studios and practices that truly fit what you are looking for.

Alongside this, we will also feature a curated selection of Retreats and Yoga Teacher Trainings across Southeast Asia, including destinations such as Bali, Thailand and other wellness locations in the region.

Classes and masterclasses are in Singapore, across neighbourhoods from the East Coast to Bukit Timah. Retreats and yoga teacher trainings take you further: Bali, Thailand and other destinations across Southeast Asia.

Some teachers also offer live online sessions, so you can practise with them from anywhere. Each listing states whether it is in person, live online or hybrid.

Yes. Browsing and discovering yoga experiences on Shalaya is free, and the price of every class, masterclass, retreat and training is shown on its listing, with or without an account. You only pay when you book.

Yes. Unless it is expressly stated otherwise at checkout, the price you pay on Shalaya is the same public price the teacher or studio offers for the same experience through their own booking channel. You are not paying extra for booking through us.

Shalaya was created by Caroline Lambardan, a yogi who struggled, like many, to find a studio, a retreat, a teacher and a community that felt right. Discovery relied on scattered platforms and word of mouth, while talented teachers were left with empty mats.

Shalaya brings it all into one place: a curated space dedicated to yoga, connecting each practitioner with experiences that fit where they are in their practice, and helping professionals reach students who match their energy and style.

Finding a class

Head to Discover and choose what you are looking for: a class, a masterclass, a retreat or a yoga teacher training. Then narrow it down with the filters: neighbourhood, yoga style, level, time of day, price, and what you want to feel afterwards.

On a phone you can also switch to the map, or tap "Near me" to see what is close to you right now.

If you are not sure where to start, take our two-minute quiz. It asks a few questions about your experience and what you are looking for, and suggests the practices that fit.

Open DiscoverTake the quiz

It is a short questionnaire, about two minutes, that asks where you are in your practice, what you want from yoga and what has been holding you back. Based on your answers we share the practices, and the classes on Shalaya, that fit your needs.

If you have an account, your answers are saved to your profile so the next time you are looking, the quiz already knows you.

Take the quiz

Everyone on the mat started somewhere, and many classes on Shalaya are designed with you in mind. Look for classes marked Beginner or All levels, and for slower styles such as Hatha, Yin or Restorative, which hold each posture long enough to learn it.

You do not need to be flexible, and you will not be asked to keep up with anyone. Come as you are, tell the teacher it is your first time, and take the quiz if you would like a little guidance on which practice to try first.

Read our guide to yoga stylesTake the quiz

Beginner: you are new to yoga or have tried a few classes. Postures are explained step by step and the pace is unhurried.

Intermediate: you practise regularly and know the foundational postures. Classes move a little faster and introduce more demanding variations.

Advanced: you have a strong, established practice and are comfortable with inversions, arm balances or long holds.

All levels: the teacher offers options for every body in the room, so you can take the version of each posture that fits you today.

Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, Ashtanga, Kundalini... the names can feel confusing at first. Each style has its own pace, intention and feel, from a flowing, breath-led practice to a slow, meditative one.

We wrote a guide that describes every style you will find on Shalaya, and who each one is for.

Some teachers offer live online sessions or a hybrid format, where you can join either in the room or from home. The format is shown on each listing, so you know before you book.

Yes. Tap the heart on any class, masterclass or retreat to save it. Your favorites are kept on your profile, so you can find them again whenever you are ready to book. You need a yogi account for this, so we know which favorites are yours.

Yes. Open the filters on Discover and type the name of a teacher, studio or venue. Teachers on Shalaya also have their own profile page, which you can open from any of their listings.

Booking & payment

Open the listing, choose the date that suits you and tap Book. You will be asked to accept our Experience Waiver, then to pay. Once the payment goes through, your booking is confirmed and a confirmation email with your receipt is on its way.

A booking is only confirmed once you receive that confirmation. If you leave without paying, nothing is charged and the place is released again within half an hour.

No. You can book as a guest with just your name and email address; your confirmation and receipt are sent there.

An account gives you a little more: all your bookings in one place, the ability to cancel a booking yourself, your favorites, and quiz answers that are remembered from one visit to the next. Creating one takes a minute.

You can pay by card or by PayNow. Payments are processed securely by Stripe, our payment provider, and your card details never touch Shalaya’s pages.

From time to time, yes. If you have a code, enter it at checkout and the discount is applied before you pay. Codes cannot be applied to a booking after it has been paid.

Yes. When a class or masterclass is full, you can join its waitlist from the listing. Nothing is charged and no place is held; the teacher is told you are waiting and will reach out if a spot opens up.

It is a short acknowledgement that participation in a yoga experience is voluntary, that you are responsible for deciding whether an activity is suitable for you, and that Shalaya acts as the booking platform while the class itself is delivered by the teacher, studio or host.

You accept it once per booking. If you have a health condition, an injury or are pregnant, please let the teacher know before the class starts.

Read the Experience Waiver

Yes. As soon as your payment goes through, you receive an email confirming the date, time and location, with your receipt attached. If you have an account, the booking and its receipt are also under My Bookings.

Not received it within a few minutes? Check your spam folder first, then write to us at hello@shalayayoga.com and we will sort it out.

Only where the listing expressly welcomes minors, such as a kids yoga class, and when the booking is made by a parent or legal guardian. The teacher may ask for parental consent or a health declaration before the class.

Cancellations & refunds

Yes. For a regular class, you can cancel free of charge up to 12 hours before it starts and receive a full refund. Within 12 hours of the start, the booking is no longer refundable, unless the teacher decides otherwise.

The policy that applies is shown on the booking page before you pay, and My Bookings tells you exactly what comes back to you before you confirm a cancellation.

For a single-session masterclass, you can cancel free of charge up to 72 hours before it starts and receive a full refund. Within 72 hours, the booking is no longer refundable, unless the host decides otherwise.

For a multi-session series, the host sets their own cancellation terms, shown on the listing before you book.

Each retreat or training organizer defines their own terms, and they are displayed on the listing and at checkout before you book. Most follow one of two policies:

Flexible: full refund up to 30 days before the start, 50% between 15 and 29 days, no refund from 14 days.

Moderate: full refund up to 60 days before the start, 50% between 30 and 59 days, no refund from 29 days.

If you have an account, open My Bookings, find the booking and tap Cancel booking. Before you confirm, we show you exactly what comes back to you and where it is refunded.

If you booked as a guest, write to hello@shalayayoga.com with the name and email you booked with, and we will cancel it for you under the same policy.

You receive a full refund, whatever the cancellation deadline, back to the card or PayNow account you paid with. We let you know by email as soon as the class is cancelled.

A teacher can only change the date, time or venue of a class while everyone booked could still cancel it free of charge. You are told by email, and you can cancel for a full refund if the new details no longer suit you.

Refunds go back to the card or PayNow account you paid with. We issue them right away; your bank then usually takes 5 to 10 business days to show the money on your statement.

A booking you do not attend, and have not cancelled before the deadline, is not refundable. If something serious kept you from the class, write to hello@shalayayoga.com and we will look at it with the teacher.

After your class

Yes, and teachers love reading them. Once your class has ended, we send you an email inviting you to share how it went. Reviews are also available from My Bookings for account holders.

Only yogis who actually attended can review, so what you read on Shalaya comes from real mats.

Your receipt is attached to your confirmation email. If you have an account, you can also download it any time from the booking under My Bookings.

Write to hello@shalayayoga.com and a real person will answer. You can also find us on Instagram at @shalaya.yoga.

No. Creating your profile and publishing your classes, masterclasses, retreats or trainings is free. Shalaya keeps a commission on each booking made through the platform; the rate is shown to you, and you agree to it, when you create your first offering, before anything is published.

Payments are handled by Stripe. Yogis pay Shalaya when they book; your share is transferred to your bank account after the experience has taken place, with payouts released monthly. You connect your bank account during onboarding, and it takes a few minutes.

Yes. A studio account can invite its teachers to Shalaya, assign them to classes and manage the roster from My Teachers. Each teacher keeps their own profile and page.

You can cancel a run of your class from Manage class. Every yogi booked on it is told by email and refunded in full, whatever the cancellation policy. Repeated cancellations of confirmed bookings may lead Shalaya to review a professional’s account.

You can also change the date, time or venue, but only while the people booked could still cancel for a full refund; they are told by email. Closer to the start, the details are locked.
